Step 1. Your Window
Measure the opening, the actual gap the AC has to fit into, not the frame.
How to measure a slider: these units stand tall and narrow in the window. Measure the width of the open gap (left to right) and the height from sill to the top of the opening. For a double-hung window, width is the sash width and height is how far it raises.
